We have a special treat for y’all today: baby chicks! Probably a redundant term, but they are adorable and here are some pictures of the four little ones that my mom and I picked up at the feed and hay store nearby about a week ago. Eventually we will move them outside and they will start laying eggs, but for now we are enjoying the peeps and cheeps coming from their corner of the garage.
Just for reference, the breeds we ended up with were a Buff Orpington, a Barred Plymouth Rock, a Golden Laced Wyandotte, and a Black Sex Link.
There’s still one thing I haven’t been able to resolve: NAMES. Usually I name our chickens after my favorite book characters (Eilonwy from the Chronicles of Prydain, for example) or I pick words that sound pretty (like Flora, Fauna, and Petra). I’ve been in such a naming rut this time around though. Let us know your suggestions in the comments, and I’ll update this post once we have our names!
